Prayer Request from the Andersons

Hi guys!
Jon and I have asked you before to pray for our decision regarding his next duty station/staying in or getting out of the Army. Well, we have some specific options that we can give you guys now if you would be so sweet to continue to pray about that for us. We will be making this decision by the end of the week. Here are the options we've narrowed it down to:

1. Ranger Regiment Company Command
2. Congressional Fellowship/Masters Degree Program in D.C.
3. Return to "normal Army" at Fort Benning (close to our home...also this one would lead to a good opportunity to get out in a year or so).

Obviously, our considerations in all of these will be family time, ministry opportunities in each unit, proximity to home, etc.

We want you all to know how grateful we are for all of you and for being able to bring this request to you, knowing that you will faithfully lift it to our Father for us. Our prayer is that He will make His will clear to us - abundantly so that we won't mess it up!! :) He has graciously done this for us with our decisions thus far in the Army, closing doors He didn't intend for us to go through.

Thank you so much, and we'll let you know what we decide Sunday!
Mandy and Jon

It's A BOY!!!

Sam got his wish! We are having another boy! He is very healthy, 100% boy, and extremely active. Thanks so much for your prayers, and we are so thankful for such great friends!

Love,

John, Morgan, and Sam

Prayer Request

Staci Hood emailed me a prayer request to send to everyone since they were not in town this morning. Please be in prayer for Jason's grandmother. She was put in the hospital yesterday for congestive heart failure. She has had heart problems for years & is currently on oxygen & has had a pacemaker for years. The Hoods are going to to visit today and tomorrow and have asked us to pray for her, her name is Wilma Anderson.

Please also remember all the requests made in ABF this morning and lift up your brothers and sisters this week in prayer. Hogan Dominy's blog is hogandominy.blogspot.com if you were interested in reading that. We'll be looking for updates tomorrow from the Ransoms and the Cardens.

Super Bowl Sunday

Michael and I would love to have you guys over here to watch the game. We've got a big TV in the basement and an average size TV in the living room. We don't have HD, so you'd have to "slum with our regular satellite broadcast." (It seems clear enough to me. :0) ) If everyone wants to come around 6:00 so we can settle in before kickoff that will be fine. We'll provide drinks, a dessert, and paper products if everyone else wants to bring an appetizer or dessert. Feel free to leave a comment to RSVP and tell everyone what you'll bring. See you Sunday!

Missions Opportunities

I wanted to give you all some information about several mission opportunities we have, especially since Carlos just finished a great series on missions! Feel free to do all or none of these, and let me know if you are interested and want more details.

1. Dinner for the Mauldins- I know it doesn't sound like 'missions', but for those who've had a baby and had the dinners brought to them, you know it's such a blessing and a ministry of God's love! Crystal will have the sign up sheet posted on the blog soon, add your name on a free date if you want to and haven't already.

2. Prayer for mission trips. Please be in prayer for the mission trips already planned for this summer, and for Russ and I as we work with a missionary on details for another mission trip possibility also for this summer. May be even consider going on one yourself!

3. As you probably heard, Haiti was devastated by a 7.0 earthquake. If you want to help, there are many ways to do so, and one of those is through Heaven Sent Ministries. Those of you who were at WFBC a few years ago will remember we donated money and participated in filling food bags for the Dominican Republic. They are sending an emergency food and water shipment to Haiti. A gift of $25 is all they are asking for, and it will help cover the cost of food that would last a family there a couple of months. The main thing needed there now is food and water. One article I read said that the remaining survivors will likely die from thirst or hunger.
You can send a check to HSM and write "Haiti Food" in the memo, or go to their website (http://www.hsminc.org/) and find the details about how you can donate online. If you want to give more, $60 buys the ingredients for a box of food that equals 216 meals!
Quote from an email sent to me by Linda Gravier, a family friend who runs HSM:
"This is absolutely a God-sized undertaking for our us, but we are trusting that God will get all of the glory. As we provide life-giving food to the victims of this disaster, we know that the food will arrive with the eternal-life-giving message of salvation. God can use this disaster to bring glory to Himself and to draw the people of Haiti into a relationship with Him!"
Let me (Shelley Tanner) know if you have any questions about this.
